I was online and found the Tucson Boys Chorus site. The Alumni section had this picture of Lin. I believe he is the third boy from the left in the third row. What a cutie!
As Nate and Sarah get closer to moving, I become more grateful for the time we get to spend together. On Friday, I got to be a patient for Nathan's practice comps. It was a very slow process. Lots of pollitics and frustation in the faculty evaluations. A paperwork mistake was made by the faculty that ate up tons of time. Poor Nate is being timed and these guys are taking forever. My good son also refused to perform a procedure that would have taken more good tooth than it needed to-"This is my mom and I'm not going to remove good enamel when it's not necessary". That comment got them moving a little faster (they're very nice to parents at USC) but it still took FOREVER because the faculty all had to review the work and there was a lot of discussion and "saving face" before they'd agree Nate was right and the professor was wrong. (The professor is also dying of cancer - thus explaining some of the high emotions) I was wearing a dental dam twice that day for a total of almost 6 hours - good thing too because I couldn't say anything when the afternoon went on and on and on. Poor Nate! He said, "Mom, you know when you ask how my day went and I say it was a really rough day, this is what they're like." Our poor boy!
Nate went through a terrible time just to fill two teeth. He will be so glad to graduate and have this stuff behind him. Ryan Swiss is a real sweetheart. He was Nate's assistant for the comps and took such good care of him. It was a hard long day for Ryan too and we sure appreciate his friendship. As Nate's assistant, Ryan had to deal with the faculty. I explained to the girls when I got home that it was like "playing telephone". Nate would request something in writing & through Brian. This was given or said to one or more gate keepers, who then told it to runners, who then relayed it to a faculty member, who shared the information with two to three other faculty evaluators. Just like the game "Telephone" there were mix-ups. Needless to say, dentistry in a real practice will be much easier.
Sunday was wonderful. Nathan and Lin sang at Sacrament, an acapella rendition in two parts of "Abide with Me tis Eventide". It was beautiful. They blended so well - nice strong male voices. They also shared a strong visual resemblance both wearing mustaches, goatees, and eye glasses that made their "father and son look" even stronger. I'll have to tape then at home next week - should have thought of it yesterday.
