Summer Fun!

Miranda taught herself ukulele this year and has inspired Shauna, Ariel, and Grandma Doxey to play the uke as well. I think my favorites are "Complicated", "The Breakup Song", "Daydream Believer", and "How Can I Be?". She's really quite good and the best part for me is when she, Shauna and Ariel harmonize on a song. Uncle Jack Doxey started guitar about the same time Mandy started the uke. Jack sounds great and it was fun to hear him play and harmonize with his sister, Caroline. We were lucky to have these budding musicians play and sing for our family. Maybe she can jam with Cousins Kent and Trevor this summer?
Ariel Anuhea is still in Hawaii. Her time at Ho'omaka'ika'i (Explorations) ended last night. She had a wonderful time. For the next two days it's fun a play with Aunty Nani, Ta'a, Nohea and family on O'ahu. They're taking the red-eye home Sunday night. Ariel has had many adventures, snorkling in the ocean, canoe paddling, making an ipu and nose flute, dancing hula, learning phrases in Hawaiian. Can't wait to get her home and feel her big hugs!
I love five year olds! Lin has a fabulous imagination and loves to dance. Last night was the best! We went to the Los Alamitos base with our extended 'ohana and enjoyed a potluck picnic As the fireworks lit the sky, Lin smiled, laughed, and danced, repeatedly telling me, "This is the best day Mom! The best!" He and baby Laura were so cute and fun. They were such a joy to watch as they "oooh and ahwwwed" the fireworks with big eyes and danced to the music.
I had to blog these beautiful curls. If Laura is like my other girls, the curls will diminish as she gets older. Right now we're enjoying these big blue eyes and curly brown haired pixie. As the last baby, we relish every moment with her. Soon enough she will be a big big girl :)
